Data Architect – GCP & BigQuery (Remote)

About the role

You will design and own the data architecture for AI‑driven mainframe modernization projects on Google Cloud Platform. The role focuses on building scalable BigQuery pipelines and analytics solutions that support legacy COBOL systems being re‑implemented in Java, Go, or .NET.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data architecture on GCP, including BigQuery and end‑to‑end analytics pipelines.
• Support application modernization initiatives by defining data flows for re‑platformed systems.
• Create scalable data pipelines and analytics build‑outs aligned with modernization efforts.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders and distributed engineering teams in a fully GCP‑based environment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture with Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong expertise in data architecture on GCP, especially BigQuery, data pipelines, and analytics.
• Experience modernizing legacy or mainframe‑class systems into Java, Go, or .NET.
• Background in consulting or professional services with client‑facing delivery.
• Familiarity with AI engineering practices such as harness engineering or spec‑driven design.
• Excellent requirements‑gathering and test‑driven design skills.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
