Data Architect – GCP / BigQuery (Remote)

About the role

As a Data Architect at BairesDev, you will shape the data layer for AI‑driven mainframe modernization projects on Google Cloud. You will design and implement BigQuery data pipelines and analytics solutions that enable legacy COBOL systems to be re‑engineered in modern languages such as Java, Go, or .NET.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data architecture on GCP, focusing on BigQuery and analytics pipelines.
• Support application modernization initiatives by defining data flows for re‑platformed systems.
• Create data pipelines and analytics build‑outs that grow with modernization efforts.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders and distributed engineering teams in a fully GCP‑based environment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture with Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong background in data architecture, including BigQuery, data pipelines, and analytics.
• Experience modernizing legacy or mainframe‑class systems into Java, Go, or .NET.
• Consulting or professional services experience with client‑facing, project‑based delivery.
• Familiarity with AI engineering practices such as harness engineering or spec‑driven design.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
