Manager, Data Services Operations

About the role

Mapbox is seeking a seasoned leader to head its Data Services Operations. Reporting to the Head of Data Services Operations, you will guide a team of 200+ professionals to deliver high‑throughput, high‑quality data projects for a global customer base.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of operational projects, ensuring on‑time, high‑quality outcomes.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams, aligning goals with Product and Engineering stakeholders.
• Design and operationalize scalable workflows that balance speed, accuracy, and cost.
• Define, monitor, and improve KPIs such as throughput, cost per hour of data, and turnaround time.
• Introduce AI‑driven tools for status reporting, risk prediction, and resource allocation.
• Provide strategic guidance, risk assessment, and coaching to middle managers.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, scaling infrastructure to meet growing demand.

Required profile

• 5+ years of leadership experience managing diverse service‑oriented teams.
• Strong data‑driven mindset with proven impact on operational performance.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and people‑management skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly evolving priorities.
• Fluency in English (B2+) and Russian.
• Bachelor’s degree.

• GIS technologies or experience with geospatial datasets.
