Manager, Payroll Operations – Eastern Europe

About the role

Remote is looking for a Manager, Payroll Operations to lead payroll delivery across a portfolio of Eastern European countries. The role combines people leadership with operational ownership, ensuring payroll is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for multiple countries, guaranteeing compliance and timeliness.
• Lead a team of payroll specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Translate strategic payroll guidance into clear operational expectations and processes.
• Resolve escalated payroll issues, apply policies consistently, and make hiring and performance recommendations.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders on vendor transitions, new country launches, and in‑house process improvements.
• Contribute expertise to global payroll implementation initiatives and ensure operational excellence during scale‑up.

Required profile

• Proven experience owning payroll outcomes for regional or multi‑country environments.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Comfortable leading investigations and driving operational resolutions.
• Ability to clarify, apply, and enforce payroll policies and controls.
• Strong operational judgment balancing speed, accuracy, and customer impact.
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially in asynchronous remote settings.
• Experience in remote‑first or globally distributed teams is a strong advantage.
