Chief Accountant

About the role

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead the finance function of its Belarus representation. This senior position will oversee full‑cycle accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting for a multicultural, mission‑driven organization.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain complete accounting and tax records for the non‑profit entity.
• Lead a small accounting team (2 staff), assigning tasks, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring quality.
• Oversee payroll processing and personnel documentation.
• Prepare and file balance sheets and all statutory reports required by Belarusian law.
• Interact with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and other regulatory bodies.
• Produce regular management reports for the headquarters and support regional project financing.

Required profile

• Higher education in economics, finance or accounting.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a chief accountant, preferably in NGOs.
• Proven ability to manage an accounting department and coordinate staff.
• In‑depth knowledge of Belarusian tax, labor and civil legislation and accounting standards.
• Strong analytical skills, high responsibility and ability to work under multiple priorities.
